Marc Chagall (Russian/French, 1887-1985), took a trip in 1931 to the Holy Land, which shook his perspective, spiritually and creatively. In 1960 he created Drawings from the Bible, consisting of 24 color lithographs illustrative carious scenes from the Bible. Hagar was a slave to Abraham, she had a son Ishmael by Abraham. Abraham's wife became jealous of Hagar and Ishmael and banished them to the desert.
