Ashkelon II is a C-print from the Ashkelon Portfolio, a series of 20 photographs by Stephen Shore (b. 1947) made at the ancient archaeological site of Ashkelon, Israel in 1994, printed at Laumont Photographics in 2006. The image presents a view of the ancient coastal city of Ashkelon in southern Israel, the site's terrain and archaeological remains set into Shore's characteristic black-and-white frame — the second image in the portfolio building the series' cumulative portrait of place.
