Ashkelon III is a C-print from the Ashkelon Portfolio, a series of 20 photographs by Stephen Shore (b. 1947) made at the ancient archaeological site of Ashkelon, Israel in 1994, printed at Laumont Photographics in 2006. The image presents a view of the ancient coastal city of Ashkelon in southern Israel, the third in Shore's twenty-part survey of the site — its ruins, coastal light, and landscape rendered in the same clear, descriptive black-and-white he applied to the American scene.
