The Acropolis is a gelatin silver print from On the Acropolis, a portfolio of 25 photographs by Tod Papageorge made on the Athenian Acropolis in the summers of 1983 and 1984. The image depicts the Acropolis seen from a neighboring hill, the Parthenon small on the skyline above gnarled olive trees and bare Attic rock, the urban expanse of Athens filling the valley below with mountains visible in the far distance. Signed, titled, numbered and dated in pencil on verso.
