Ashkelon VI is a C-print from the Ashkelon Portfolio, a series of 20 photographs by Stephen Shore (b. 1947) made at the ancient archaeological site of Ashkelon, Israel in 1994, printed at Laumont Photographics in 2006. The image presents a view of the ancient coastal city of Ashkelon in southern Israel, the sixth in Shore's twenty-part series — archaeological terrain and Mediterranean light recorded in his characteristic precise black-and-white, the image as attentive to its specific place as his American photographs were to theirs.
