Ashkelon XX is a C-print from the Ashkelon Portfolio, a series of 20 photographs by Stephen Shore (b. 1947) made at the ancient archaeological site of Ashkelon, Israel in 1994, printed at Laumont Photographics in 2006. The image presents a view of the ancient coastal city of Ashkelon in southern Israel, its ruins and Mediterranean environs composed in Shore's characteristic black-and-white — the final image in the numerical sequence capturing the site with the same lucid, descriptive precision as the others.
