This bronze sculpture of Eve is a posthumous cast from the original plasters modeled by Auguste Rodin around 1881. Rodin designed the figure to flank his monumental Gates of Hell sculpture along with a complementary Adam. Eve is shown just after the Fall, her head bowed and turned away, her arms drawn tightly across her body as she shields herself in shame. Stamp signed "A. Rodin" on the base above the inscription "A mon ami D." The cast bears a raised cartouche that reads "Masters Limited Edition, A. Rodin."
