Roses on Fence by the Pond is a chromogenic print from The Giverny Portfolio, a portfolio of 25 photographs by Stephen Shore (b. 1947) made with an 8x10 view camera during three trips to Monet's gardens at Giverny in 1977, 1982, and 1983, and printed at Laumont Photographics by Kylie Wright under Shore's supervision. The image depicts climbing roses trained along an iron fence at the edge of the water garden pond, their blooms in red and pink cascading against weathered metal and green foliage, with a glimpse of the pond's still water beyond. Signed and dated on verso.
