Tourist Guide is a gelatin silver print from On the Acropolis, a portfolio of 25 photographs by Tod Papageorge made on the Athenian Acropolis in the summers of 1983 and 1984. The image depicts a barefoot, bearded man crouching at the center of a group of tourists — wild-haired and gesturing as he speaks — while a woman in sunglasses stands holding a bag, a man with a camera hanging from his shoulder looks away, and seated tourists face him from either side, the massive columns and stepped platform of the Parthenon rising directly behind. Signed, titled, numbered and dated in pencil on verso.
