Trees by the Stream is a chromogenic print from The Giverny Portfolio, a portfolio of 25 photographs by Stephen Shore (b. 1947) made with an 8x10 view camera during three trips to Monet's gardens at Giverny in 1977, 1982, and 1983, and printed at Laumont Photographics by Kylie Wright under Shore's supervision. The image depicts a narrow stream flanked by tall poplars and willows in full summer leaf, their canopies arching over the water and dappling it with reflections of green and gold, the scene suffused with the warm light of the Seine valley. Signed and dated on verso.
