Ashkelon IV is a C-print from the Ashkelon Portfolio, a series of 20 photographs by Stephen Shore (b. 1947) made at the ancient archaeological site of Ashkelon, Israel in 1994, printed at Laumont Photographics in 2006. The image presents a view of the ancient coastal city of Ashkelon in southern Israel, the site's layers of history and Mediterranean setting observed in Shore's precise black-and-white — the fourth image in the series deepening the portfolio's portrait of the archaeological landscape.
