With a packed crowd donned in their best finery, Ivel Weihmiller's depiction of the West Side Tennis Club in Queens shortly after its relocation to the scenic Forest Hills plot is historical and playful. Rendered in soft, muted colors, the scene is altogether an emblem of the beginnings of the sport of tennis. With the players continuing their doubles set in the traditional all-white outfits, the women wear long skirts and hats while the men wear pants.
