This lithograph was originally featured in the book detailing the design and execution of the ceiling for the Paris Opera. Each panel of the ceiling was dedicated to a famous composer, this one dedicated to Jean-Philippe Rameau. The lithograph and book were engraved by Charles Sorlier after the original sketches by Marc Chagall and printed by Mourlot Freres.
