Talented engraver and painter Amand Durand, French (1831-1905) is most recognized for accomplishing the difficult task of renewing original copper plate etchings made by Rembrandt in the late 1800's; it is by Amand that many of Rembrandt’s works were saved. Reference: Bartsch 33
