This etching by Richard Haas depicts at a grand scale a panopticon centered in a colonnaded interior courtyard with soaring glass ceilings. Although beautiful, the purpose of the panopticon is to challenge the psyche of the prisoner by making them unsure at any time as to whether or not they are being watched.
