Tourists and Marble Fragments is a gelatin silver print from On the Acropolis, a portfolio of 25 photographs by Tod Papageorge made on the Athenian Acropolis in the summers of 1983 and 1984. The image depicts tourists dispersed across the plateau among column drums and marble capitals — some seated on the ancient stones, others standing or photographing — a tall radio antenna rising at center background against a broad, pale sky. Signed, titled, numbered and dated in pencil on verso.
