Ashkelon IX is a C-print from the Ashkelon Portfolio, a series of 20 photographs by Stephen Shore (b. 1947) made at the ancient archaeological site of Ashkelon, Israel in 1994, printed at Laumont Photographics in 2006. The image presents a view of the ancient coastal city of Ashkelon in southern Israel, its ruins and terrain rendered in Shore's characteristic black-and-white clarity — the ninth image in the series, positioned midway through the portfolio's survey of the site.
