This abstract figure by feminist modern artist Joan Semmel is almost grotesque in its depiction of a nude body crouched on the floor. Their hands brace against the ground, shoulders slouched, head hung, a tangled mass of shapes formed in the center of it all. Without any color, the pieces feels bloody and brutal, Semmel expertly depicting a body in trauma.
