Modern Frieze is a gelatin silver print from On the Acropolis, a portfolio of 25 photographs by Tod Papageorge made on the Athenian Acropolis in the summers of 1983 and 1984. The image depicts two young women performing acrobatic splits and high leg extensions in the foreground, a third figure kneeling between them, with the full colonnade of the Parthenon behind them and a stream of tourists passing in both directions. Signed, titled, numbered and dated in pencil on verso.
