Berenice Abbott was an extremely popular photographer of New York City streets in the early 20th century. She began working at Man Ray's studio and became interested in photography after seeing Eugene Atget's photographs. In the late 1930's the Federal Art Project (FAP) asked her to document New York and it's ever changing skyline. These photographs are from that project.
