Pulling from his experiences as a cowboy in his youth, Cecil Smith depicts a series of packhorses being led by a traditional mountain guide along a mountain pass near the Salmon River in Idaho. With snowy mountains in the distance, the mountain man on horseback carefully surveys the path ahead before taking the packhorses behind him.
