The Temple of Athena Nike is a gelatin silver print from On the Acropolis, a portfolio of 25 photographs by Tod Papageorge made on the Athenian Acropolis in the summers of 1983 and 1984. The image depicts the Temple of Athena Nike seen from the side, its four Ionic columns and carved frieze rising above scattered limestone rubble, the massive ashlar wall of the Propylaea dominating the right foreground, the city of Athens spreading across the plain below under an overcast sky. Signed, titled, numbered and dated in pencil on verso.
