Woman with Shoes is a gelatin silver print from On the Acropolis, a portfolio of 25 photographs by Tod Papageorge made on the Athenian Acropolis in the summers of 1983 and 1984. The image depicts a young woman in a striped sleeveless dress standing barefoot atop a marble block, head bowed, holding her sandals in one hand. Scattered marble fragments and tourists spread behind her across the plateau, with the hazy Athens skyline visible in the far distance. Signed, titled, numbered and dated in pencil on verso.
